MFM Marketing Assistant
(Part-Time, Remote)

Mass Farmers Markets (MFM) is seeking a part-time Marketing Assistant to support our marketing and communications efforts across five vibrant farmers markets in the Greater Boston area. This is an ideal role for someone who loves marketing, enjoys creating engaging social media content, and is excited to help promote local farms, food access, and community-based food systems. The position offers significant creative freedom while working closely with our Marketing Manager in a largely independent, remote environment.

We’re looking for someone who is efficient, organized, and quick with technology, with a strong interest in Instagram and Facebook. The ideal candidate enjoys photography, storytelling, and creating visually compelling content that highlights vendors, seasonal food, and market communities. A willingness to learn, take initiative, and manage time independently is essential. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule social media content for Mass Farmers Markets Instagram and Facebook accounts using Buffer, including posts, stories, and reels

  • Draft and design weekly email newsletters using Constant Contact

  • Use Canva to create graphics and marketing assets for newsletters, social media, and promotional materials

  • Send SMS text messages to market customers to promote weekly updates and events

  • Update and maintain the Mass Farmers Markets website via Squarespace, including weekly news, vendor highlights, and announcements

  • Capture photographs and short videos at markets for use in social media, newsletters, and website content

  • Collaborate with Market Managers and vendors to identify stories, highlights, and marketing opportunities

Markets (Must visit each market at least once per season)

  • Copley Square Farmers Market — Boston (Back Bay) — Tuesdays & Fridays

  • Kendall Square Farmers Market — Cambridge — Thursdays

  • Central Square Farmers Market — Cambridge — Mondays

  • Davis Square Farmers Market — Somerville — Wednesdays

  • Fish & Farm Market — Boston (Seaport) — Saturdays

Travel to markets may be via public transit or personal vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in marketing, social media, and digital communications

  • Comfortable using Instagram and Facebook; experience creating posts, stories, and reels preferred

  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canva, Buffer, Constant Contact, and Squarespace

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently

  • Efficient, reliable, and able to manage time effectively in a remote work environment

  • Interest in photography and visual storytelling; ability to take high-quality photos on personal smartphone and organize photos via the MFM Google Drive

  • Assist with Google Ads and paid advertising campaigns, including helping create ads, monitor performance, and make updates as needed

  • Passion for local food, farmers markets, and community-based organizations is a plus

This is a remote, hourly position requiring 10–15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. We are hoping to find someone who can commit to this role for the full 2026 market season through December 2026, with the potential to continue beyond for the right candidate. This role is ideal for someone looking to build marketing experience while supporting a mission-driven nonprofit and helping connect communities with local farms and fresh food.
